Summer Bash At Del Valle Park

LAKEWOOD, CA --Time to mark your calendars! Lakewood High School’s 9th annual ALL ALUMNI PICNIC is just around the corner. It is held on the second Sunday of every July. Classes of 1958 through 2007 as well as family members and friends are invited.
The Memory Lane and ‘Fallen Lancer’ Memorial exhibits will be on display in the Canteen (Youth Center) again this year. We will have the Classic Cars for you to enjoy. Note: If you have a classic car you’d like to display in front of the Canteen, please contact me, and plan to bring your car early. Space will be limited

The Big Red Machine of the 1960's steamrolled their opponents through out the season and made it far into the CIF playoffs. Until the fateful year of '67, the Lancers were unstoppable.

| Champions: Lancers vs. Mayfair |

The Mayfair Monsoons were man handled by the Lakewood Lancers with a 40-3 victory in 2007, thus regaining the Milk Bucket Trophy and returning it to its rightful place-Lakewood.

Lakewood veteran running back Alex Fletcher displayed his power and technique which has made him one of the top backs in the league. He shared his thoughts of breaking the 1,000 yard mark during the 2007 season.

The Lancers showcased one of their best performances of the 2007 season during the homecoming game against Jordan. Among the top players was Raymond Barajas, who returned a kickoff 92-yards for a touchdown.

One of Lakewood's most fierce competitors was defensive back Cedric Moore. Known for his quickness and agility, Cedric wreaked havoc in the backfield of the opposition.

|
Alex Fletcher returns this Fall for his final year at LHS. At 5'9" 202 lbs., he plays a versatile role for the Lancers and possesses the physical tools that makes him one of the most talented running backs in the Moore League.

|
Training camp has started for the Lancers, and college recruiters are already making their bids to acquire the services of Lakewood's next crop of super stars set to take the field for the opening kickoff of the 2008 campaign. Among them are returning varsity lettermen Trevor Erno, Italia Chrichton, Alex Fletcher, Aaron Aviles and Jimmy Young. These student-athletes have been recognized for their talent by some of the top schools in the PAC-10, including USC, ASU, and Big East Conference Syracuse as well as Mountain West Conference Utah respectively.
Standout junior linebacker Trevor Erno, while being sought after by most of the PAC-10 and others including Colorado, has recently made verbal commitments to play college football at the University of Arizona next year. He's also been nominated to play in the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl held each year in January at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX.

Training Camp: Players begin training this Summer on 6/16 through 7/17.
Kickoff Dinner: August 23 in the LHS quad area cafeteria. This is a pot-luck style dinner for all football parents and players. Coach Mac will speak and introduce the coaching staff.
